Think about what this means for your carefully designed user interface. All those visual elements, navigation patterns, and conversion funnels were built assuming a human would interact with them.
Agentic browsers don't care about your design. They care about structure.
I'm not suggesting websites disappear. But their primary function is shifting.
Your website becomes a structured data layer that feeds AI systems. The visual interface remains important for the humans who do visit, but the underlying architecture needs to serve machines first.
Schema markup establishes entity relationships at scale. It builds knowledge graphs that are foundational for large language models. By representing information in a structured and standardized way, knowledge graphs allow algorithms to extract insights and make predictions effectively.
Context, not content, now drives AI visibility.
Google's Gemini uses multiple data sources, including Google's Knowledge Graph, to develop answers. Google crawls the web, including schema markup, to enrich that graph.
When someone searches for businesses like yours, AI looks for structured data that explicitly identifies your services, locations, and credentials. If that structure doesn't exist, you don't get cited.
