A database-driven Web site is one in which the content is pulled from a database, just as the visitor requests a specific "page." Usually, a database-driven site includes a content management system that allows the owner to maintain the content of the site. Content consists of text, images, and various types of media files (video, sound, and interactive media such as Flash™ and Shockwave™.)
In contrast to software commonly used to produce or deploy HTML Web pages, content management systems (CMS) allow users, directly from a Web browser, to insert content from a variety of sources. A CMS allows content managers to designate when, how and how long the content will be displayed. The content is categorized into a hierarchy that allows it to be readily located and displayed as required.
30dps has developed a robust and flexible system for content management that many of our clients have employed to manage their site. Click the link below to download and print a copy of the white paper that describes in detail the customizable code we call the X-Dream Media Engine.
